Books on Hispanic Americans can be found throughout the library collection. Those regarding history will usually fall in the 900’s. Try using search terms such as: hispanic, hispanic americans, latino, mexican americans, or puerto ricans. Search the MATC Library catalog - Webcat

Electronic Databases

Academic Search Elite or Expanded Academic ASAP  or Academic Onefile
Use these academic databases to find articles from scholarly and history journals. Full-text titles include History Today, History Review, American History, Journal of American Ethnic History, Journal of Social History, and others. Includes many book reviews.

CQ Researcher
Congressional Quarterly provides information on government, politics and public policy. Fulltext essays on a particular subject offer background, pro, and con, as well as contextual information regarding the problem, issue, or event. Good source of information for topic papers on immigration or current issues.

More than 15,000 full text biographies and more than 9,400 obituaries | 1940- present

Discovering Collection
Covers the core curricular areas of Literature, History, Biographies, Science and Social Studies, History and Culture.

JSTOR
Archive of scholarly and academic journals. Includes a Latin American collection. Good source for book reviews.

Proquest All Collections Search Proquest databases together, except for Proqest Historical Newspapers. Good source for book reviews. Includes Proquest Online Newspapers Database: Millions of articles originally published in national, regional, and local newspapers and Ethnic NewsWatch from Proquest: A full-text collection of ethnic newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press.

Proquest Historical Newspapers
Chicago Defender (1921-1975) Chicago Tribune (1849-1985), New York Times(1851 – three years prior to present year). Full page images of the Chicago Defender , Chicago Tribune, New York Times. Complete with illustrations, advertisements, obituaries, etc. as they appeared in the newspaper at that time. Good choice for finding book reviews, especially for older titles.
