Return to Library Computer Lab

How do I access my e-mail?

MATC e-mail access is web-based so you can access it from anywhere at:

What is my e-mail address?

Your e-mail address is: username@stu.matcmadison.edu; so if the username is jdoe then the e-mail address would be jdoe@stu.matcmadison.edu. You can check your e-mail address in the Student Directory. If you have an e-mail address listed then your account has been activated.

How much space do I have in my student e-mail?

10 Megabytes is the maximum for each account. Remember that all of your mailboxes and messages and attachments in them do count towords that total space.

What is my user name?

MATC e-mail is set up to work with the other MATC services (Blackboard, Inside MATC, and the Novell Network) so all should use the same username and password. You can check your user name in the Student Directory.

How do I rese my challenge question?

From the MATC Homepage click the blue title bar for MATC Logins, Under the heading of Student Email Resources click the link for Reset Secret Question finally enter your username and password to reset the question.

How do I activate my account or reset my password?

How do I forward all my e-mails to another account?

You can set up your MATC e-mail to be forwarded to another e-mail account. However, Technical Services does not support non-MATC accounts:

  • Click the Options button at the top of your browser’s window.
  • Click on the Mailbox Management tab in the Options window.
  • Click the Yes radio button for Forward All New Messages
  • Click the No radio button for Keep a Copy, if you don't want to keep a copy in your student e-mail account
  • In the Forward To: box enter the e-mail address that you want your e-mail forwarded to.
  • Click the Save button.
  • Click the Close button.

How do I delete e-mails?

To delete an item, place a mark in the message checkbox, click Delete at the top of the Message List.

A red X is then placed next to the message in the Message List to indicate it has been marked deleted. However the message is not permanently removed from your Mailbox and still takes up space in your account, until you purge it. As long as you have not purged a message, you can still undelete it.

To permanently remove a message from your mailbox, you must place a mark in the checkbox to the left of the message you want to remove and click Purge. Remember, you will not be able to recover the message once you click on Purge.

Your mailbox is limited to 10MB of space. You should purge messages on a regular basis so that you don’t run out of space. Purge messages out your Outbox as well, since those messages are included in the total space used. If your mailbox becomes full or almost full, you will not be able to send or receive messages.

How Do I Attach Files To a Message?

Most types of documents can be attached and sent along with an e-mail.
  • First, save the file you’d like to attach to either a disk, flash drive, or your “Home directory”.
  • Click on the Compose button to start a new message.
  • Click the Attach button and a new window will open.
  • Click on the Browse button and select the file you would like to attach, The file name should now appear in the Attach File box.
  • Click on the Add button and if you have more files to attach repeat the Browse and Add steps until all your files are attached
  • Now click OK and you will be taken back to your message.
  • Below the Subject box you should see a list of the names of the files you’ve attached
  • Attachments that come with your e-mail messages count in the total used space.
  • See the How to Send Attachments learning object for more information
