Library Mission:
The MATC Library organizes and manages free access for students and staff to
the recorded knowledge of human civilization in a variety of formats to support
the teaching and learning processes of the college.
General Library Information
MATC’s six libraries, the main library at Truax and five information
resource centers at the Downtown, Watertown, Fort Atkinson, Portage and Reedsburg
campuses, provide services and collections tailored to MATC students’
academic library needs.
MATC libraries offer more than 450 magazines, 65,000 books and videotapes,
Internet access, and a growing number of computerized full-text databases to
help students efficiently locate needed information. Online catalogs and delivery
service connect all centers to provide students with fast access to titles in
all collections. Access to these online resources is also available from home
and the office.
In addition, students have access to the online catalogs of UW-Madison libraries, Madison
Public libraries and many other state libraries, and can borrow materials from
these libraries through interlibrary loans. To help our students use these resources,
all locations provide individual assistance and class orientations to collections,
services, and the research process.
The MATC libraries also provide special reserve collections of materials assigned
by instructors. In addition, Truax features a small collection of books and
videos for recreational purposes.
The Truax library provides ample room for studying, and houses the campus
computer lab, the student computer help desk, a drop-in tutoring service (the
Learning Center), the Writing Center and several photocopiers and scanners.

skills to help students manage an increasingly complex world of information.
- General program orientations covering basic library procedures and the specific
reference tools for that field

library, job-hunting on the Web, searching for images on the Web, specific
subject databases and Web sites, etc.)
To schedule an instruction session, or for more information about the MATC
Library Instruction Program, please contact Mark

Instruction Request Form.
Truax Library Instruction Room Guidelines
- The MATC Truax Library Instruction Room (230C) is meant primarily for library
instruction sessions. We schedule library instruction sessions for MATC classes
and encourage follow-up library research use of the room by those classes
for up to two 50-minute sessions or one 75-minute or longer session. The room
is not intended to be used as a classroom by instructors throughout
the semester.
- During the semester, when an instruction session is not scheduled at the
time, the Instruction Room is opened up as an overflow computer lab for students
when needed.
- Please refer all scheduling matters and questions of the Instruction Room
to the Library Instruction Coordinator, Mark Luetkehoelter.
