In honor of Mathematics Awareness Month, the MATC math club arranged a day-long celebration that included a special guest lecture and a mathematics competition entitled "WHO WANTS TO BE A MATHEMATICIAN?", hosted by the American Mathematical Society.  The competition involved area high school students who answered multiple choice questions about pre-calculus mathematics.  The order of play was determined by students' times in answering "Fastest Finger" questions.  The whole competition is adapted from  NBC's "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?".

Erik Saunders of Rufus King High School and Alec Li of Madison West High School each won a top prize of $2,000 cash.  Po-Ling Loh of James Madison Memorial High School and Andrew Ishihara of Marquette University High School each won an auxiliary prize of $1,000 cash.
