Template Use and Guidelines
We’ve developed templates in Word, Publisher and PowerPoint to allow department staff opportunities to create brochures, flyers and other print marketing projects to use when promoting small or internal events, classes or programs.
See the directions below for downloading and working with these templates. CETL technology trainers are available to answer questions on template use. Email kcrow[at] madisoncollege [dot] org (subject: Regarding%20Marketing%20Templates) (Kevin Crow) for information. Classes in this software are available through CETL as well as the Business Technology Department.

- Pre-sized images for the flyer and the brochure cover are available from our Flickr account (called the Madison Area Technical College photo stream). See “Downloading Madison College images from Flickr” below.
Working with images in Publisher templates
The flyer and brochure cover images are pre-sized to fit the space provided. To insert a pre-sized image:
- Download the image from Flickr (see more on this below).
- Select the image box and right click.
- Scroll to “Change Picture” and select “From File.”
- Browse to find your Flickr photo and select it
- Your image should replace the gray image box.
Other brochure images are optional but must fit the width of the column (3.465 inches or 1040 pixels). The height of the optional photos can vary depending on the amount of text you have and where you place them. To size images:
- Select an image that is the same size or larger than the space you need to fill.
- Go to Insert, select “Picture” and then “From File” to pick your image.
- Move the image into place. Use the handle on the lower right-hand corner to reduce the size of the image.
- To crop the photo to fit, go to “View” and then “Toolbars” and select the “Picture Toolbar.” Select the Crop Tool on the Picture Toolbar to crop your photo to fit.
