What is the Outline of Instruction?
- The outline of instruction is designed to improve the teaching/ learning process at Madison Area Technical College.
- Outlines of Instruction contain both specific content to be covered and learner outcomes desired.
Where are the Outlines of Instruction located?
- Hard copies of the Outlines of Instruction are on file in the Divisional offices.
- Copies of the Outlines of Instruction are on-line.
Why write an Outline of Instruction?
- To ensure that all learners are receiving appropriate classroom information and achieving the same skills from the same course taught by different instructors
- Faculty members are responsible for teaching the course content and outcomes that lead to stated program learner outcomes as indicated in the Outline of Instruction.
- Individual teaching styles may dictate additional learner outcomes for that course. These must be reflected in the course syllabus.
- Helps full and part-time faculty know what to teach
- Course competencies can be coordinated to meet program outcomes
- Union contract
- Articulation with high schools
- Internal program evaluation requirement
- North Central Accreditation requirement
- Assists students with transferring credits to four year institutions
