How to Implement MAAP for a Course

    If you are interested in MAAPing a course, the following process should be followed. Forms may be completed and submitted online.

    1. Department discusses need to implement MAAP for a particular course
      1. What type of COMPASS score(s) to use – Math, Reading,Writing, EWrite
      2. What other courses and programs would this impact?
    2. Department agrees to proceed with MAAP and secures Dean approval.
    3. Program/department chair completes and submits data request to James Merritt.
      1. The request should include the course name and number, the type of COMPASS scores to analyze and the dates to analyze.
    4. The data will be returned to the program/department chair.
    5. Department analyzes data. The MAAP Team is available to discuss student success data and help determine appropriate cutoff scores.
    6. Appropriate cutoff score(s) are determined.
    7. The department should discuss proposed cutoffs with affected programs and their dean(s).
    8. With dean’s approval, program/department chair fills out the online MAAP Implementation Request Form.
    9. Websites and advising materials will be updated by the appropriate centers.
    10. Learner Success HUB will implement course blocks.
    11. Student success will be monitored and analyzed with data from Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE).
    12. Data will be shared with departments and cut scores and placements will be revised if necessary.
