The Purpose of an Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a program available to help you and your family find the means to resolve personal problems. By offerings this free and confidential program, we hope employees will be encouraged to ask for help during difficult times.

    EAP Guidelines

    • Your use of EAP services is voluntary.
    • Your use of EAP services will not violate your personal privacy. Strict confidentiality measures are used in every phase of the program. (You may remain completely anonymous during your phone call.)
    • Your use of EAP services will not jeopardize your employment status, job security, and opportunities for promotion.
    • Your use of EAP services will not alter your responsibilities under your employer's personnel policies. You will continue to be subject to disciplinary action should you violate these personnel policies.

    How to Use the EAP

    Employees and Your Families

You may confidentially contact HELPLINE, a service of Heitzinger & Associates, for initial problem assessment and possible referral to a professional service provider. There is no charge for your use of the HELPLINE services.

A qualified counselor will discuss the situation with you by telephone or by scheduling an appointment for an individual session. It is your decision whether or not to accept and follow through with the counselor's suggestions.

    Your Supervisor

Your supervisor may encourage your use of EAP services if concerned about a continuing pattern of unsatisfactory job performance or behavior. If you accept the recommendation, the supervisor will provide you guidance on receiving appropriate EAP assistance.
