Discusses the necessary steps and equipment to safely work on the high voltage system of hybrid and electric vehicles, including an explanation of the built-in safety features of current vehicles. (non-credit, 4 hours)

First Responder Safety Training – Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (47-503-418)
Information for first responders (police, fire, EMS, etc.) about how to safely deal with hybrid electric vehicles in the event of an emergency. Includes how to disarm the high voltage system, high voltage electrical safety specific to vehicles, how to utilize information available about the vehicles on the scene, and how to deal with HEV/EV fires and extrication.
