Improvements to your student home directory (H Drive)
What is a Home Directory?
- Your student home directory or H drive is a folder or storage area that is located on the network.
- When you log on to a computer on campus with your username and password, you are automatically connected to your home directory.
- You can also access these files remotely when off-campus.
Changes and Improvements
- New home directories for students were created for students in August 2011. Home directories were relocated and upgraded,with improved access options.
- Home directory storage space for students was increased to 150 MB. Previously, students were limited to only 15 MB.
- The new off-campus remote file access system, FileWay, is easier to use.
- These changes will allow the college to update other related technology resources for students.
- Files were not automatically copied or moved to the new home directories. Files saved prior to the transition were archived and could be accessed using the IUADMIN system until December 2011
How do I access my NEW home directory?
- When you log on to a campus Windows computer with your username and password, you will be connected to your new home directory.
- Access your files from off-campus using FileWay, a new and improved system.
