Milwaukee Fire Chief Takes Job at College

    Calling it “an opportunity of a lifetime,” Douglas Holton has resigned as Milwaukee's Fire Chief to become the new associate dean of Human and Protective Services at Madison Area Technical College.

I’m excited to become a part of the educational team that will ensure the continued success of teaching and training our leaders of tomorrow.”

    Madison Area Technical College President Bettsey Barhorst says she is impressed by Chief Holton’s experience and leadership.

    “The knowledge and experience he brings will enhance our fire, police and EMS programs,” says Barhorst. “We are delighted that he will be joining the leadership team of our Human and Protective Services Center.

    Chief Holton is Milwaukee’s first African-American fire chief. He took office slightly more than two years ago. He previously served as fire chief in St. Paul, Minnesota.

    Holton is expected to begin his new duties at Madison Area Technical College on December 1.
