Our Students
- Madison Area Technical College serves more than 40,000 students at 11 locations in portions of 12 counties.
- Nearly 16 percent of our student population is made up of minority students.
- Many UW students transfer to Madison Area Technical College for post-baccalaureate work to gain real-world skills.
Our Programs
- Madison Area Technical College provides training for more than 100 careers including high-tech careers in information technology, electron microscopy and biotechnology.
- We offer a wide selection of liberal arts classes that transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
- Madison Area Technical College also offers apprenticeships in 20 skilled trades, High School Tech Prep Partnerships, hundreds of non-degree enrichment and continuing education courses, basic adult education, English as a Second Language and several high school completion options.
- Madison Area Technical College was the first two-year college in the nation to work with stem cells.
- We work with UW-Madison to make biofuels more readily available to the public.
Our Services
- Our Business, Industry and Community Services (BICS) offers customized training to area businesses, government organizations and nonprofits.
- Our Business Procurement Assistance Center (BPAC) assists companies with obtaining government contracts.
- Our Executive Directors for Economic and Workforce Development serve our district's regional communities.
- The T.E.C. Incubator Center provides office and lab space and entrepreneurial assistance for technology-focused start-up businesses.
Our Graduates
- Close to 90 percent of Madison Area Technical College students are employed within six months of graduation.
- Ninety-six percent of our graduates work in Wisconsin—82 percent in our district.
- Madison Area Technical College is the largest source of students transferring into the UW System.
Our Contributions
- Madison Area Technical College has helped Wisconsin companies win more than $3.7 billion in government contracts since 1988—including $617 million in 2009 that created or retained more than 12,000 jobs.
- For every $1 of our Business Procurement Assistance Center budget, $644 is returned to Wisconsin.
- Technical colleges generate nearly $7 billion in economic benefits for Wisconsin each year.
- Wisconsin’s economy generates a return of nearly $4 for every $1 invested in technical colleges.
- Approximately 2,400 employees work at Madison Area Technical College.
