Will anyone have to move during the building and renovations?

  • Matc - Fort Atkinson - The Faculty offices will move to a temporary location during the summer.

How do these building and renovation projects support instruction and learning at MATC?

  • These building projects will make it easier for teachers and support staff to do their jobs, which directly assist instruction across the college.

Will these projects directly interrupt instruction and learning?

  • As with any large construction project, there may be unforeseen interruptions but plans are in place to minimize disruptions for staff and students. There will be no classroom closures or faculty office closures at MATC Truax. Some classrooms will be closed at MATC Fort Atkinson.

Where can I learn more about upcoming projects?

How does the college prioritize building projects and who decides which projects come first?

  • All construction and remodeling projects are submitted through the same project request/review/approval/prioritization process, regardless of the type of request (instructional vs. support services). The exception would be in the case of a request being a code, safety or compliance issue, or if the request had a significant impact on instruction. Projects are prioritized first by the respective capital planning subcommittee and then by the District Capital Planning Committee. The College Council and MATC Board ultimately approve all projects.

  • The ratio of total dollars spent between instructional and support services since 1988 is approximately 85 percent instructional and 15 percent support services.

Will there be any interruption of business or services due to these renovations?

  • Yes, individual employees or units in the midst of a move will be interrupted for 1-2 hours, but all campus locations will remain open for business.
