Waste Recyling Information

Computers

Computers contain many valuable components that should be recycled.  This equipment is considered a “hazardous waste” because the cathode ray tube, printed circuit boards, batteries, relays and switches contain lead, cadmium and other metals that are toxic to people and the environment.

Therefore, computers CANNOT be thrown in the general trash.

Computer products include:

  • Central processing units (CPUs)
  • Monitors
  • Printers
  • Keyboards
  • Laptops
  • Peripherals (modems, mice, etc.)
  • Terminals
  • Mainframes

Contact the EH&S Office to coordinate pickup (x6291).
