Hazardous Waste Disposal and Waste Recycle

Waste Recyling Information

Batteries (Auto)

Used or spent lead-acid batteries are considered “hazardous waste,” unless they are recycled. To recycle your used lead-acid batteries:

  • Take lead-acid batteries to the USED BATTERY storage area in West Court (east side of gate).
  • Put batteries right side up on the pallet marked “Recycle Batteries.”
  • To prevent spills, breakage, or discharge of batteries, keep batteries cool and upright.
  • Do not throw or drop batteries.
  • Wear safety glasses and protective gloves in case of breakage.  The acid will burn eyes, skin and clothing.
  • Report any damaged batteries immediately to the EH&S Office.
