Waste Recycling Information
Chemicals
Waste chemicals are never to be disposed of in the general trash, or down drains into the sewage system. Chemicals, once they are no longer useable, shall be disposed of as hazardous waste.
Waste chemicals can include:
- Paints
- Laboratory waste
- Old, outdated chemicals
- Read the MSDS for disposal in formation.
- Label the container with a Hazardous Waste label, and fill it out. (See picture, upper right)
- Fill out a chemical waste disposition form (print the form from the EH&S web site and complete all applicable fields)
- Send the completed form and all corresponding MSDS to the EH&S/Risk Management Office.
- Call the EH&S/Risk Management Office for assistance if needed.

- Don’t pour chemicals down the drain.
- Don’t put chemicals in the regular trash.
