Waste Recyling Information

Broken Glass

ALL broken glass must be placed into a separate waste container.  Broken glass is never placed into the regular trash container.  The waste glass container itself will be disposed of along with the broken glass.

Acceptable containers for broken glass include small (1-2 cubic foot) cardboard boxes with plastic liners, empty plastic paint cans, or any similar puncture-proof, leak-resistant containers.  Follow the procedure below when cleaning up broken glass:

  • Sweep up broken glass with a broom and dustpan
  • Never pick up broken glass with your fingers!!!
  • Place the broken glass in the acceptable container
  • Seal the container with tape
  • Label the container “Caution – Broken Glass”
  • Place the container in the general trash

Contact the EH&S Office to coordinate pickup (x6291).
