Environmental Health and Safety

 

Mission Statement

The mission of the District Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Office is to promote a safe and healthful campus environment, while supporting the mission of the college to provide accessible, high quality learning experiences that serve the community.  Equally important is the development of student's knowledge and skills regarding the environment and occupationally safety and health.

Vision Statement

The MATC District EH&S office will be recognized for its leadership in occupational safety & health, and protecting the environment and having a positive impact both in the campus community and stakeholders.

What we do

To support this mission & vision, the EH&S Office is charged with the overall responsibility for Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety issues, including but not limited to: 

  • Accident prevention and investigation
  • Chemical/laboratory safety
  • Infection Control
  • Hazardous Waste management
  • Environmental Protection. 

The District EH&S Office exists in order to plan, develop and implement required guidelines for these issue, monitor the effectiveness and needs, and provide consulting resources for District Staff. These services ultimately ensure comopliance with established environmetnal, health and safety laws. A primary administrative function of the EH&S Office is to assist Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Department Heads in meeting their assigned health and safety responsibilities.

Though the EH&S Offices hold a great responsibility in promoting health and safety, all District staff and students bear an obligation to conduct their tasks in a manner that does not endanger their health and well-being  or the health and well-being of others or the environment.

The EH&S Office looks forward to assisting you and your program/department with any environmental compliance, health and safety need.
