High-Pressure Washer Safety

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) found that 3,100 people were treated in hospitals for injuries caused by high-pressure washers in 2003.

When using the pressure washer, follow these safety rules:

  • Check flexible cords, plugs and sockets before each use. Replace any damaged items.
  • Wear eye protection while using the washer.
  • Do not leave hoses where they can be run over and damaged.
  • Never spray the cleaner at yourself or others. The pressure can cause the water and cleaner to blast under the skin.
  • Never start the washer until you have checked to make sure all coupler hose connections are in place and locked.
