Battery Recharger Safety
Lead Acid batteries can produce explosive hydrogen gas while charging. While the battery is on the charger, there should be no sparks or flames within the battery charging area. The battery charging area should be a dry, well-ventilated area.
Battery recharger safety tips:
- Have a designated area for battery recharging & proper code-compliant ventilation.
- Keep flames, sparks, etc. away from the battery recharging area.
- Keep the battery recharging area dry.
- Do not lean over a battery while it is recharging.
- Wear safety glasses when handling batteries.
- Shut off the recharger if you are leaving the room.
- Check all electrical cords for fraying, etc. (take out of service if you find any defects)
