 The English Department has a menu of courses as diverse as MATC itself. From Intro to College English and Communication Skills 1 to Classic Mythology, Women in Literature, and Advanced Technical Communications, the English Department offers 45 different and distinct English courses. These courses were designed to meet the needs of thousands of program and liberal arts transfer students attending MATC's seven campuses.
This department is flexible as well, offering more than the "traditional" semester-long experience. It has accelerated, focused courses for those students who prefer the eight-week experience, for instance, and it offers online and hybrid/online courses for those whose schedules conflict with traditional classroom settings. The department has also developed a cluster of professional writing courses and certificates.
All of this is just part of the department's mission, which is to make the MATC English classroom -- whatever the course may be -- an accessible and enriching experience for the student on a path toward personal and professional growth.
