    Incident Command System (ICS) Courses

    The NIMS ICS curriculum organizes four levels of training:

    ICS-100 Introduction to ICS

    This course introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training and describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

    ICS-200 Basic Level

    This course provides training for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS. It is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). This course focuses on the management of single resources.

    ICS-300 Intermediate Level

    This course is for individuals who may assume a supervisory role in expanding incidents. During an expanding incident, some or all of the Command and General Staff positions may be activated, as well as Division/Group Supervisor and /or Unit leader level positions.

    Prerequisites: ICS-100 and ICS-200

    ICS-400 Advanced Level

    The advanced level course is intended for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity at an incident or event. This includes individuals  who may serve as Incident Commander or as members of the Command or General Staff, Area Command  or multi-agency coordination entity/ Emergency Operations Center(EOC) management.

    Prerequisites: ICS-300
