Continuing Education
Continuing Education is committed to promoting and providing a variety of non-credit courses throughout the greater Madison area and Dane County. Madison Area Technical College is able to offer these courses, which include nontraditional offerings not usually associated with a formal classroom setting, with the cooperation of school districts and community organizations throughout the district. Courses are offered at Madison Area Technical College campuses and facilities, public schools, senior centers, neighborhood centers, libraries, and area churches. See courses, participating locations, and profiles.
By cooperating with business and industry, public and private agencies, community groups and other institutions of learning, Continuing Education is able to sponsor and develop a wide variety of special institutes, seminars and workshops. In conjunction with Business, Industry & Community Training Services, Madison Area Technical College also offers customized training and technical assistance to meet the needs of businesses, community organizations and public agencies.

Typical course offerings include foods and nutrition, arts and related arts, business and professional skills, computer skills, do-it-yourself, sign language, general studies, retirement and financial planning, upholstery, sewing and photography. See Dane County Continuing Education Course Information for more details or contact Continuing Education for more information.
Continuing Education offers popular global language courses such as Arabic, Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese, Norwegian, and Russian as non-credit enrichment courses. Madison Area Technical College also offers International Studies with credit courses in French and Spanish as well as a Global Studies certificate program.
Special workshops and classes are presented for targeted occupational groups and for other topics of interest. Seniors age 60 and over may qualify for tuition discounts for many courses. Contact Continuing Education for more information.
For these non-credit classes, students are issued (S)atisfactory, (U)nsatisfactory, (N)o Show or (W)ithdrawal as grades in these classes. The letter grade units are unofficial grades and do not constitute any grade point value. Nondegree transcripts for these courses can be provided upon student request.
The Continuing Education schedule of course offerings is continually evaluated and improved in an effort to provide the most effective adult continuing education possible. Student and public inquiries and suggestions are welcome as an aid to this effort.
