METROPOLITAN PLACE FORCLOSURE

By STEVEN VAN HAREN
Clarion Staff Writer

La Salle and Associated Banks have filed mortgage foreclosure actions against Metropolitan Place and it’s manager, Clifford Fischer. The documents filed with the Dane County Court say that Fischer’s company defaulted on a $43 million loan and still owes the banks $26 million.

Metropolitan Place is an immense and prominent condo and retail development in the heart of downtown Madison, on the corner of West Washington Avenue and Broom Street, and the future home of locally owned organic grocery store, Willy Street Co-op.
