A TOUR OF MADISON'S BUFFALO WING SCENE

Just picture it: Your body is freezing but your mouth is on fire. Your hands and mouth are coated with a sticky, orange sauce. The prospect of gnawing away at slabs of meat on chicken bones may seem disgusting to some, but to your average carnivore, a big basket of Buffalo wings hits the spot on a cold Madison evening. Here’s a glimpse at some of the city’s many wing offerings.
Brother’s Bar in downtown Madison offers the best bang for your buck. On Wednesday nights, for $3 (less tax and gastrointestinal repercussions), you can binge on 30 wings. Choose hot, mild or an assortment of the two. The wing fest doesn’t start until 9 p.m., but arrive early; while waiting in the long line you and your amigos can enjoy $6 buckets of beer.
Quaker Steak & Lube in Middleton offers a Tuesday All-You-Can-Eat wing special from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The meal comes with a plate of fries and a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing. While the price is a bit steep (around $12.99 for the special), the assortment of sauces is worth it. You can sample everything from my personal favorite, Arizona Ranch, to the local favorite
Badger Barbecue. Those hardcore hot-wing lovers should try the Atomic, but save them for last because taste buds will literally whimper, whither and die.
Buffalo Wild Wings – On Thursday nights BW3’s offers a boneless buffalo wing special at $.50 per wing. You must order a minimum of six wings per sauce, but there is no ceiling on the number of flavors you can choose. The wings are tasty (especially the Mango Habañero flavor),
and there is plenty of seating available
at this location, but I’d suggest giving the new Monona Drive location a try. And can someone please, please tell me where the third “W” in “BW3’s” comes in?
