Email from a 2003 CET Graduate
Dear Sister Mary Jerry,
I'm currently working for a company called ESP Associates out of Charlotte. I travel all the time. I just got done with a ten day stint in Boone, NC. I worked alongside Grandfather Mountain. The scenery was beautiful. I was working on a flood study of the Watauga River Basin. I'll attach some pictures. They say you don't become a mountain man until you swim in one of the rivers flowing down the mountains. I can say I am a mountain man now, but it was by accident. The water was too high for the waders I was wearing. I threw them on shore and jumped in. They weren't kidding. That water was so freaking cold it stung. One of the included pictures is of another Crew Chief swimming, not me. He knew it ahead of time and wore a swimming suit. Our company is subcontracted under URS and FEMA for flood study surveys for any hurricane that hits the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Coast. That should be interesting. We might be going to Florida in a couple of weeks because of the Alberto. Thanks for the previous advice also. I hope all is well and you are enjoying summer. Take care Jerry.
