Civilian Handgun Safety
This Concealed Carry and Handgun Fundamentals Safety Course provides the opportunity for the participant to develop the skills and understanding of basic handgun safety for civilian use.
This course will cover:
- Basic knowledge of firearm safety.
- Weapon handling and malfunction solutions.
- Legal responsibilities of firearm ownership and use.
- Personal decision making on possessing and using a firearm.
Students must be 21 years of age and legally eligible to possess a firearm in the State of Wisconsin. This course does not grant a concealed carry permit. The Wisconsin Department of Justice accepts the applicants and registers those eligible for a concealed carry permit. We anticipate that the course will meet the training requirements as set forth in Act 35 of the Wisconsin State Legislature.
Textbook will be provided in class; please bring note-taking materials. Students are encouraged to bring their own handguns and holsters but not required; students will be required to bring their handguns encased and unloaded and weapons will be inspected by instructional staff. Please leave weapons locked in your vehicle until directed to bring them in. No other weapons or ammunition will be allowed into the classroom or training area.
