Topic: Printing Handouts of PowerPoint Presentations

Decription:

Many instructors include PowerPoint presentations in their Blackboard courses. These are generally intended for viewing on-screen. Students who choose to print out these slideshows with one slide per page use lots of paper and toner. There are options that allow for printing a handouts view with 4 or 6 slides per page, which is more economical and ecological.

Guide:

Some instructors post slideshows in Blackboard in multiple formats. One may include an option that allows for printing in handouts view. For example, this may be a .pdf (Adobe Acrobat file) that is already set to print out as 6 slides per page. In this case, use the option provided by the instructor for printing the slideshow and use the other option(s) for viewing the slideshow onscreen.

Otherwise, if the slideshow is posted only as a PowerPoint slideshow format (.ppt or .pps  file extension), opening the file inside Blackboard does not give you the option to print handouts. You can open the file in PowerPoint, instead of inside Blackboard, in order to print handouts.
