*Classroom Policies

Attendance Policy/Absences:

Responsible attendance means that you will plan your schedule so that you can be present for scheduled class sessions and manage your time so that you can complete your assignments, quizzes and activities on or before the date due.

Being on time and attendance are mandatory. Inadequate attendance/participation will reflect in the attendance/participation grade.

Missed Class:

If you do miss a class session, identify what you have missed and obtain handouts or other learning materials that were distributed during your absence.

If you missed interactive, applied, or group learning activities, discuss alternative learning activities with your instructor. (Better yet, propose an alternative.)

Contact your instructor in person, via email, or via voicemail message, explaining how you intend to make up missed work.

Complete work missed due to an absence within one week after your return.

Planned Absence:

If you know you will miss a class session, notify your instructor prior to the absence. Plan ahead to submit assignments or complete assessments that will be due during your absence prior to your absence. (Refer to the syllabus schedule.)

Late Work Policy:

Responsible and timely completion of assignments is important to your success in college and this course. Assignments are due on the day we will be using the content for that day’s activities, therefore late assignments will negatively impact your learning and course grade.

All assignments have due dates on the syllabus, please check your syllabus and put them on your MATC Planner.

Late Assignments:

1 free pass for one late assignment which entitles you to one week late with full credit, but the assignment will need to be turned in within one week of the due date. If the free pass is not used it can be turned in for 5 points at the end of the semester.

All other late assignments- 50% off the assignment total grade, all late assignments must be turned by the second class meeting after the due date. No assignments will be accepted after this period.

Cell Phones & Pagers: Cell phones and pagers must be turned off in the classroom.
