you to find out.

If you have not already done so, READ the Syllabus
for this course. The syllabus includes helpful information on the technical
requirements for this course, guidelines for discussions, Netiquette, and group
work, and information on your assignments and how you will be graded. [CLICK on

COMPLETE the Orientation. [CLICK on Orientation icon

help you to become familiar with the online learning tools used in this course.

For many students the first day of a traditional
class is an exciting time to meet new and interesting people. In this online
course we will use Personal Profiles as a way to learn about each other. CREATE
a Personal Profile for yourself to introduce yourself to your classmates.

REMEMBER that directions on how to create a personal profile can be found in Help.
READ the profiles of the instructor and other members of your class.

LOCATE the Overview, the Learning Activities, and the Performance Assessment
for each Learning Plan.

If you would like you can CREATE A DIRECTORY in your
Personal Workspace for each Learning Plan in this course. [CLICK on the
Workspace icon on the Navigation Bar on the left side of your screen] USE this
directory to store your files as you complete the assignments for each Learning
Plan. REMEMBER that directions for how to create a directory can be found in
Help. Storing your files in your personal workspace allows you to access these
files from any computer. Otherwise, you can store your files on your computer's
hard drive or on floppy disks.

assessment]. You will use the In/Out Box to submit your assessments to your
instructor and to receive assessments with feedback from your instructor.

PARTICIPATE in an introductory discussion by posting
a message in the Large Group Discussion forum for Learning Plan 1. [CLICK on
the Discussion icon on the Navigation Bar at the left side of your screen]

have not already done so, READ the "Guidelines for Discussion" in the
course syllabus.

If you have not already done so, read the "Guidelines for
Online Behavior" in the course syllabus. VISIT the Albion
(http://www.albion.com/netiquette) web site, read "The Core Rules of
Netiquette", and complete the quiz.

In this course you will be working in small groups to complete
many of your assignments. To complete your group work, you will be using a
variety of online tools including a Work Group Discussion, PowerPoint
Workspace, and possibly Chat and E-mail. If you have not already done so, READ
the "Guidelines for Group Work" in the course syllabus.

READ an article on Online Teams
(http://www.onlinelearningmag.com/new/nov00/printer/feat1prt.htm) by Colleen
Frye (2000) in Online Learning. This article discusses some of the most common
myths about working in online teams. POST a message in the Large Group
Discussion Forum that includes at least one benefit that you see of working in
groups, and one question that you have about working in groups online or using
online tools. RESPOND to at least one other posting.

A list of the members of each work group will be posted in the
Large Group Discussion forum for Learning Plan 1. LOCATE your Work Group
assignment and make a note of the name of your work group and your work group
members. POST a message in your Work Group Discussion forum introducing yourself
to the rest of the group. [CLICK on the Discussion icon on the navigation bar
at the left side of your screen. Find the "Select Group" dropdown
list and select your PowerPoint]. As you work together to complete your work
group assignments you will need to take turns providing leadership for your
work group discussions.

VISIT the GradeBook to find a list of the assignments that you
will need to complete, due dates and other information. [CLICK on the GradeBook
icon on the Navigation Bar on the left side of your screen] As you complete
your assignments and assessments, you will be able to check in the GradeBook to
find the grades that you receive.
