Local Contracting

The term "local" can be defined as a municipality, county, city, village, town, school district, board of school directors, sewer district, drainage district, technical college district or any other public or quasi-public corporation, officer, board or other body having the authority to award public contracts.
Local & Municipal contracting

One way to determine agencies in your local area is to look in the "government or blue pages" of your local phone directory. Search for agencies in your immediate area and then contact them. Identify yourself, then using your "2-minute-elevator-marketing-pitch", find out who does the buying for that agency and what they are looking for. Wisconsin Vendornet also has links to several major Wisconsin cities and county government purchasing websites.
Note: most local government agencies follow state procurement procedures. However, it is important for you to identify how each agency operates and become familiar with their unique contracting requirements.

School Districts

School Districts

Many businesses have products or services they would like to sell to schools in Wisconsin.  Search individual school districts by visiting the Wisconsin School Directory database.

If you have additional questions about contracting with Wisconsin's local government agencies contact our Center for assistance at (608) 243-4490.
