Description of Responsibilities
Overview: I combine my knowledge of scientific, legal and business issues to enable products that are developed, manufactured, and distributed to meet the required legislation. Some aspects of my job are:
  • Direct responses to governmental agencies for non-compliance issues.
  • Submit regulatory reports.
  • Assist with regulatory and customer audits.
  • Perform internal audits.
  • Develop training modules and training sessions.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Member of Safety Committee.
  • Work with all levels of management, vendors, and contractors to continuously develop and implement new policies, programs, forms and procedures to streamline processes, improve safety and product quality, reduce costs, and provide support in regulatory compliance at the facility and corporate level.
Personal Background
I worked part-time in document control at MS Bioscience, while taking coursework at MATC. I started at Hydrite Chemical Co. as a Technical Document Control Administrator/ISO Internal Auditor, developing their document control system for ISO9001. I currently work as the Air/ Water Facility Regulatory Compliance Coordinator. The Instrumentation and Laboratory Methodology course at MATC was instrumental in my decision to pursue regulatory affairs as a career path.
Skills and Techniques Used
Need to be comfortable working with computer software and office equipment. Must be able to interpret data and perform technical writing. Research, problem solving, and auditing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and project management is a plus.
Daily Experiences
No day is the same. I have the feeling of contributing to society and occupational health, safety, and environmental protection. My work includes: audits from regulatory agencies; quality audits; air/water regulatory reports and compliance; assist with permit applications; implement corrective action items; create and follow-up with Management of Change items; update procedures and forms per current regulations; risk management.
