There are two common methods
for accessing workplace education services at Madison Area Technical College.
Contract Funded
Contracts can be established through an MATC
Consultant and delivered on-site at a company. Contracts can be written
for individual companies where the content is often customized to meet
the specific company needs or contracts can be written as consortium contracts
for several companies with similar ESL training needs share the cost of
training and send employees to a centralized location.
Grant Funding
State incentive grants are available for Workplace Basic Skills, English
as a Second Language and Basic Academic Skills. These grants are funded
from July 1st to June 30th of each year. Workplace Education grant programs
(WPE) are partially funded through a two-year grant cycle from the Wisconsin
Technical College System Board. In the first year of operation, the state
grant will cover 75% of the budget and the company receiving services
contributes 25% of the total program budget. In year 2, companies contribute
50% of the program budget and the state grant covers the other 50%. As
with contracts, grants can be written on behalf of individual companies
or for multiple companies forming a consortium of participating organizations.
