Barber/Cosmetology Program


 

This program combines the theoretical concepts and practical instruction you will need to become a Barber/Cosmetologist upon successful completion of the Wisconsin practitioner's licensing examination. Graduates receive training in barbering and cosmetology, and may be licensed to practice in either area.

The Barber/Cosmetologist program is a technical diploma program. This program is designed to prepare student in the basic skills necessary for employment. It is an 1800 hour, three-semester program, consisting of two 18 week plus one 11 week semester. Classes follow the standard college calendar for time off, this includes semester breaks, spring break, and holidays.

You will learn hair cutting, styling, coloring, permanent waving and chemical relaxing. You will also receive instruction in nail care and skin care services. Classes in business practices, sales and advertising, communications, and human relations are also important components of this curriculum. The Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing licenses this program.

Students complete the practical component of their training by working on clients in our salon, under supervision, which is designed to simulate an actual work environment.
