MATC Women's Volleyball Signs Players to National Letter of Intents
Posted 4-18-08 - MATC Women’s Volleyball coach, Toby Parker, has signed the following players to National Junior College Athletic Association National Letter of Intents for the upcoming 2008 season:
Alison Waller, a libero from Abbotsford H.S., is a two-time Marawood All-Conference selection.
Elizabeth Wisdom, a middle blocker from Cuba City H.S., was a two-time SWAL all-conference selection, first team all-area, and all-state performer. Four year high jump state qualifier and state champion in her junior season.
Kayla Conner, a middle blocker from Waterloo East (IA) H.S., was selected as Mississippi Valley Conference MVP, along with All-State honors in 2007.
Trisha Fadroski, a 5’10” outside hitter from Fort Atkinson H.S. was named team MVP, along with being a Southern Lakes All-Conference selection in 2007.
Jessica Eichorst, an outside hitter from Dodgeville H.S., was selected to the Southwest WI All-Conference team in 2006.
Kristen Klein, a 5’6’’ setter from Cuba City H.S., was a SWAL All-Conference selection in 2007.
Rachel Schmidt, a middle blocker from Hortonville H.S., was a Valley 8 All-Conference selection in 2007.
Maggie Tipler Earns All-American Honors
Posted 11-29-07 - Second year Madison Area Technical College (MATC) women’s volleyball player and former Monona Grove H.S. athlete, Maggie Tipler, received National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-American honorable mention honors this week.
With the honors, Tipler became the third volleyball All-American in school history and the third All-American in the past two seasons for the MATC women’s volleyball team. The WolfPack Women finished the 2007 season with a #7 national ranking and an overall record of 24-10-1.
Maggie Tipler (2nd Year - Monona Grove H.S)
Tipler is an all-conference, all-state and all-region women’s volleyball selection this season. Tipler led the WolfPack in kills (280 - 3.18 per game) and attack percentage (.284). She was second in digs (238 - 2.7 per game) and blocks (18). Tipler ranks second all-time in school history in career digs (655), third in season kills (280) third in career kills (487), and second in career attack percentage (.254)
MATC Ends Season in Championship Game
Posted 11-5-07 - MATC played host to the NJCAA Region XIII Volleyball Tournament this past weekend. The winner claimed the right to advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
MATC played MSCTC Fergus Falls on Friday, beating them in five games (30-27, 26-30, 30-24, 19-30, 15-8). In the match, Jackie Tucker led the WolfPack with 12 kills while teammate Valerie Johnson dished out 40 assists and Brittany Kalscheur recorded a team-high 20 digs. The win advanced the WolfPack to the Region XIII championship.
In the championship game on Saturday, MATC played Ridgewater College. The WolfPack struggled as the visiting Lady Warriors beat MATC in three straight games (23-30, 16-30, 19-30). Brittany Kalscheur led MATC with 14 digs while Valerie Johnson had 22 assists and Roxanne Toby posted seven kills.
With the loss, MATC's fine season came to a close with a final overall record of 24-10-1.
MATC Set to Host Region XIII Tournament
Posted 10-23-07 - MATC will play host to the NJCAA Region XIII Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 2 & 3.
The game schedule is as follows:

Ridgewater College vs. MATC-Milwaukee - 6:00 PM
MATC-Madison vs. MSCTC-Fergus Falls - 8:00 PM
Saturday
Third Place Game - 11:00 AM
Championship Game - 1:00 PM
The tournament winner advances to the to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Rochester, MN.
MATC Wins Second Straight WJCAA Title
Posted 10-22-07 - The # 7 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack Women's Volleyball team won its second straight WJCAA State Championship in Fond Du Lac, WI on Saturday. In pool play, the WolfPack defeated UW-Marinette, UW-Waukesha, and UW-Marshfiled. In the championship round, they defeated UW-Washington 30-15, 30-10, and UW-Marathon 30-28, 30-21.
With the win over UW-Marathon, MATC captured its second title in a row, and sixth overall since the program started in 1972.
MATC Volleyball Earns Trip to State
Posted 10-18-07 -The WolfPack have earned a trip to the state tournament after spliting a pair of games with UW-Baraboo and beating Western Technical College, UW-Rock County, and UW-Richland in two games at the WJCAA Regional Playoffs on Wednesday night.
The top two teams from each of the four regionals advance to the WJCAA State Tournament. In Region IV, MATC (7-1) and UW-Baraboo (6-2) advanced. The State Tournament will be held in Fond du Lac, WI, on Saturday, October 20.
MATC Wins Conference Title
Posted 10-12-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball defeated MATC-Milwaukee 30-13, 30-27 and 30-18 to win its second straight conference title on Wednesday. The WolfPack improved to 14-7 overall on the season.
Jackie Tucker and Maggie Tipler led the WolfPack with eight kills each, while teammate, Amanda Hammes had 28 assists in the win.
WolfPack Fall to UW-Whitewater JV
Posted 10-9-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball ended their six game winning streak on Monday to UW-Whitewater JV 20-30, 22-30 and 19-30. The loss drops the WolfPack to 13-7 overall on the season.
Roxanne Toby and Maggie Tipler led the WolfPack with six kills each and teammate Valerie Johnson had a team high 20 assists.
MATC Wins Battle With Rock Valley
Posted 10-4-07 - The WolfPack had to pull out all of the stops agaisnt Rock Valley to just squeak by with a big win.
Rock Valley looked like they were pretty much in control of the game with a 33-31, and a 30-16 win in the first two games, but MATC came soaring back. The WolfPack would go on to win the next three games 33-31,33-31, and 16-14. With the win, MATC's record improved to 13-6.
Steph Chellevold led the way for the WolfPack with 15 kills, and Valerie Johnson had 48 assists in the victory.
MATC Sweeps Western Tech College
Posted 10-1-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team swept Western Tech College 30-9, 30-14, and 30-19. The win was the WolfPack's fifth straight, improving their record to 12-6.
Maggie Tipler led the WolfPack in kills with 12 and teammate Valerie Johnson posted a game high 22 assists.

MATC Wins Versus UW-Richland
Posted 9-25-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball won their fourth straight match to improve to 11-6 on the season. The WolfPack defeated UW-Richland 30-14, 30-15, 29-31, and 30-13 on way to the victory.
Steph Chellevold led the WolfPack with 13 kills while teammate, Valerie Johnson, had a team high 29 assists in the win.
WolfPack Win Two at Triangular
Posted 9-24-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball finished 2-0 in Saturday's triangular as they defeated MATC-Milwaukee and UW-Washington. The WolfPack improve to 10-6 overall.
MATC swept MATC-Milwaukee (30-18, 30-10, 30-17) in three sets to start the triangular. In the second game, MATC beat UW-Washington (30-7, 30-15) to finish the triangular with a victory.
MATC Sweeps UW-Rock County in Three
Posted 9-19-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team swept UW-Rock County in Janesville, WI, beating them in three straight games, 30-16, 30-17 and 30-14.
Maggie Tipler led the WolfPack in kills with eights and Valerie Johnson posted a game high 24 assists as the WolfPack improved to 8-6 overall and 4-0 against state junior college competition.
MATC Wins One at Lake County Invite
Posted 9-17-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball finished 1-3 at the College of Lake County Invitational in Grayslake, IL on Sept. 14 and Sept. 15.
MATC fell to Kankakee CC (25-30, 23-30) and Elgin (35-37, 22-30) to start the invite. MATC beat College of DuPage (32-30, 30-22) before losing to Rock Valley (22-30, 26-30) to finish the invite.
MATC Starts Conference Play With Win
Posted 9-13-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball dominated in the coference opener as they swept Western Technical College in three games, 30-19, 30-15, and 30-19.
Maggie Tipler led the WolfPack with 14 kills and 11 digs while teammate, Valerie Johnson, had a team high 26 assists. With the win, MATC improves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
MATC Places Third at Rochester Tourney
Posted 9-10-07 - The #7 nationally ranked MATC Women's Volleyball finished in third place at the Rochester Tournament in Rochester, MN on Saturday, September 8.
MATC started off slow losing to Hibbing College (25-30, 24-30) and Minnesota St. Fergus Falls (28-30, 30-28, 11-15). In the final game MATC bounced back to beat Western Tech (30-16, 30-20).
MATC Wins at Home Versus UW-Baraboo
Posted 9-5-07 - The #7 nationally ranked MATC Women's Volleyball won their fourth match of the 2007 season with a three set win over UW-Baraboo at home.
Jackie Tucker and Roxanne Toby each had 10 kills while Val Johnson had 18 assists to lead the WolfPack.
MATC Places Second at NIACC Invite
Posted 9-4-07 - The MATC Women's Volleyball finished 3-1 at the North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Tournament in Mason City, IA on Saturday, September 1.
MATC won its first three games versus Northland College, Clinton Community College, and North Iowa Area Community College to advance to the championship game against NCAA Divison III Loras College.
In the championship game, MATC fell 24-30 and 28-30 to Loras to finish second.
Johnson earns Academic All-American Honors
Posted 6-28-07 - MATC Volleyball player and former Sun Prairie H.S. athlete, Valerie Johnson, earned 2006-07 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American honors. In order to receive this honor student-athletes must have completed at least three semesters of college with at least 45 credits accumulated with a GPA of 3.80 or higher. |
