Open Tryouts - Mandatory Meeting Date Set
Posted 6-23-09 - MATC Soccer team has scheduled their Mandatory Meeting for Thursday, July 30 at 6:00 PM in Room 209. This meeting is required for all students interested in trying out for the team, recruited athletes and for all athletes returning for their second season of competition.

Cody Anderson Chosen 1st Team All-American
Posted 12-4-08 - Cody Anderson, a former New Glarus H.S. athlete, became only the second First Team All-American in Madison Area Technical College (MATC) soccer history. He is the fifth All-American in the last six years for the MATC soccer program.
Cody Anderson, a first year defensemen for MATC, was selected first team NJCAA Division III All-American for his play during the 2008 season. In addition to his All-American honors, Anderson received all-conference, all-state and all-region honors this season while helping the WolfPack to conference, state and region titles.

WolfPack Falls to Triton in District Finals
Posted 11-5-08 - MATC's cinderella season came to an end on Saturday, November 1, as they fell to Triton College (IL) in the NJCAA District 2 Championship game by a final score of 3-0.
After trailing by two goals at the intermission the WolfPack couldn't get past a stingy Triton defense, as they had just two shots on goal the entire game. Triton added one more in the second half to bring the final score to 3-0.
The WolfPack ended the year with a 9-11 overall record, a season that included conference, state, and regional championships.
WolfPack Soccer Hosts District Tournament
Posted 10-29-08 - The MATC Men's soccer team is hosting the 2008 NJCAA District 2 Soccer Tournament. The games are as follows:

Winner of the tournament advances to the NJCAA Division III National Soccer Tournament in Richland, TX on November 8-9.
MATC Advances to District Finals
Posted 10-27-08 - The men's soccer team has advanced to the NJCAA District championship game with a 3-1 win over MATC-Milwaukee on Sat., October 25, in the Regional Championship game
The WolfPack drew first blood as first year player Cole Hinueber scored just under three minutes into the game. Milwaukee would quickly respond however, and the game went into intermission tied at 1-1. MATC would score twice more in the second half while holding the Stormers scoreless for the rest of the game to earn the victory.
First year midfielder Nick Russel tallied 3 assists on the day, while Hinueber, Nick Amelse, and Daniel Bednarczyk all scored goals for the WolfPack. MATC will host the District Finals on October 31 - November 1. MATC will play on Sat., November 1, against an opponent yet to be determined.
MATC Takes Home WJCAA Crown
Posted 10-20-08 - The men's soccer team has proven themselves to be the best team in the state once again, as they defeated UW-Fox Valley in the WJCAA State Championship game.
Held at Wittman Park in Menasha on Sat., October 18, the WolfPack jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to the victory. With a 3-0 halftime lead, MATC would score once more in the second half to make the final score 4-1. Daniel Bednarczyk, Leo Oseguera, Luis Crespo, and Nick Amelse all scored goals for the WolfPack as they cruised to the victory.
MATC has won the WJCAA State Championship for the third consecutive year, only the second time in WJCAA history that a team has done so. MATC first accomplished this feat in 1998-2000, and were coached by current Head Coach Jeff Richardson.
WolfPack Advance To Championhip Game
Posted 10-17-08 - The men's soccer team advanced to the WJCAA State Championship game with a 3-0 victory over UW-Rock County. Playing on their home field, MATC scored early and often on this rainy afternoon. Second year player Kelby Thomas scored twice in the opening period, while former Sun Prairie H.S. standout Dan Bednarczyk tallied his fourteenth goal of the season.
MATC will play UW-Fox Valley for the WJCAA Championship on Sat., October 18, at Wittman Park in Menasha, WI. WolfPack Come Up Short In Overtime
Posted 10-13-08 - MATC played host to Dakota CC on Sat., October 11, and lost a close contest in overtime by a score of 1-2. With Dakota leading by a goal late in the first half MATC's Nick Russell, a first year midfielder from Cottage Grove, scored a goal with under a minute left in regulation via an assist from his former high school teammate Nick Steffel to send the game into overtime.
While neither team was able to score in the initial overtime period, Dakota put one in the net in the 112th minute to make the final score 1-2.
MATC Gets Blanked by Carthage JV
Posted 10-13-08 - The men's soccer team travelled to Kenosha on Thurs., October 9, and fell to the host Red Men 0-1. The loss is the fourth in a row for the WolfPack, who now have an overall record of 6-9.
MATC Advances to WJCAA Semifinal
Posted 10-10-08 - The men's soccer team secured a place in the WJCAA Semifinal game by defeating Milwaukee Area Technical College by a score of 4-1 in a WJCAA play-in game. Dan Bednarczyk led the way for the WolfPack as he scored two goals and added an assist, while Leo Oseguera and Chris Jewett also tallied goals on the day. Goalie Tyler Smith kept the host team at bay by recording 9 saves while allowing just one goal.
MATC advances to host the winner of UW-Fox Valley/UW-Rock County on Wed., October 15, in the WJCAA Semifinal game.
WolfPack Falls to Kishwaukee CC
10-10-08 - MATC traveled to Malta, IL, on October 6 for a non-conference match with Kishwaukee CC, and fell to the hosts by a score of 0-1. Madison native Luis Crespo scored the lone goal for the WolfPack, with an assist from first year defender Leo Oseguera. MATC Falls Short in Loss to Conference Rival
Posted 10-6-08 - The MATC men's soccer team traveled to Milwaukee on Sat., October 4, for a match with conference rival MATC-Milwuakee. While the team had hoped to remain undefeated against in-state opponents, the host Stormers had other things in mind as they defeated the WolfPack by a final score of 3-1.
Daniel Bednarczyk scored the lone goal for MATC, his tenth of the season, in the first half off of an assist from Austin Lehman. Goalie Tyler Smith recorded three saves while allowing three goals.
The WolfPack loss forces a WJCAA Play-in game versus MATC-Milwaukee on Wednesday, October 8th in Milwaukee at 3:30 PM.
MATC Splits a Pair Over the Weekend
Posted 9-29-08 - The men's soccer team traveled to St. Paul, MN, over the weekend for two non-conference games and came back with an even record. On Saturday, September 27, the team lost a close battle to the Macalester JV team as they fell by a score of 1-0.
On Sunday the team avenged an early season loss to Century College by defeating the host Wood Ducks by a final score of 3-2. First year forward Daniel Bednarczyk (Sun Prairie H.S.) continued to scorch the nets as he scored his eight and ninth goals of the season for the WolfPack. Goalie Ernest Tetteh tallied six saves on the day while allowing two goals as the WolfPack brought their record to 5-5 on the season.
MATC Falls to Loras College JV
Posted 9-24-08 - MATC hosted the Loras College (IA) JV team on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and fell by a final score of 5-0.
The team kept things close in the first half but trailed at the intermission 1-0. The second period was a different story however, as the NCAA Division III Junior Varsity team from Iowa erupted for four goals in the second period to make the final score 0-5. MATC goalie Tyler Smith blocked eight shot attempts while allowing four goals, and teammate Ernest Tetteh blocked four while allowing one goal.
MATC hopes to rebound by traveling to St. Paul, MN over the weekend of Sept. 27-28 for a pair of non-conference contests.
WolfPack Wins Conference Opener, 2-0
Posted 9-22-08 - On Saturday, Sept. 20, MATC traveled to Milwuakee to take on the Cyclones in their conference opener and came home with a 2-0 victory.
While neither team managed to score in the first half, Nick Amelse broke the game open in the fifty-fourth minute with his fifth goal of the season (Russel, Becerra assist) to put the WolfPack up 1-0.
First year infielder Marcus Oldenburg tacked on another goal later in the period to make the final score 2-0. Tyler Smith recorded seven saves for the WolfPack while not allowing a goal.
MATC Wins Second Straight, Beats UW-Wash
Posted 9-16-08 -MATC won its second straight game over a Wisconsin state junior college opponent with their Monday night 6-0 thrashing of the visiting UW-Washington County Wildcats.
First year forwards Daniel Bednarczyk and Nick Amelse each had two goals a piece while teammates Chris Jewett and Marcus Olenburg added a goal a piece as well. Tyler Smith and Ernest Tetteh split time at goal for the third straight game. Both goalies did not allow a goal and recorded four saves between the two of them. With the win, MATC is now back to .500.

Bednarczyk Scores Record Four Goals in Rout
Posted 9-11-08 -MATC Soccer claimed its second win of the season with a 8-1 rout over state junior college opponent, UW-Fond du Lac. MATC jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead and didn't look back as they added four more goals in the second half.
Former Sun Prairie H.S. athlete, Daniel Bednarczyk, scored a school record four goals with three goals coming back-to-back-to-back in the first half. MATC recorded twenty-two shots on goal in cruising to 8-1 win.
MATC Loses to Concordia College JV
Posted 9-9-08 -MATC jumped out to a 2-1 halftime advantage with goals by Luis Crespo and Jimmy Meneses. In the second half, Concordia answered with an unassisted goal to tie the game at two apiece.
In the ninety-fifth minute, Concordia again scored an unassisted goal to win 3-2. MATC goalies, Tyler Smith and Ernest Tetteh combined for nine saves.
MATC Soccer Falls to Century College
Posted 9-8-08 -On Saturday, Sept. 6, MATC played host to the Wood Ducks from Century College (MN) in an afternoon match. Leo Oseguero scored the game's first goal via a Marcus Olenburg assist in the eigth minute, but Century scored twice in the half to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
In the second half Century scored again to go up by two goals before Oseguero scored his second goal of the day (Austin Lehman assist) to bring the final score to 3-2. First year goalie Tyler Smith had 7 saves while allowing 3 goals. With the loss MATC drops to 1-2 on the season.
MATC Picks Up First Win of the Season
Posted 9-3-08 - The Men's Soccer team claimed their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over College of Lake County on Sunday, August 31.
The Lancers scored quickly to take a 1-0 lead, but MATC responded with a goal of their own as first year forward

The WolfPack broke the tie in the 82nd minute as
Nick Amelse scored the game winning goal on an assist from Bednarczyk. Goalie Ernest Tetteh had three saves in the game.
MATC Loses Season Opener to McHenry CC
Posted 8-27-08 - The #7 nationally ranked MATC Soccer team traveled to McHenry, IL to face McHenry Community College in the season opener.
MATC fell behind early as they trailed 1-0 at halftime. In the second half MATC posted the first goal of the season as Amelse assisted Crespo to tie the game at 1-1. Then, McHenry scored two unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. MATC goalie Tetteh ahd six saves.
