Johnson earns Academic All-American Honors
Posted 6-28-07 - MATC Volleyball player and former Sun Prairie H.S. athlete, Valerie Johnson, earned 2006-07 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American honors. In order to receive this honor student-athletes must have completed at least three semesters of college with at least 45 credits accumulated with a GPA of 3.80 or higher.

MATC Volleyball Players Receive All-American Honors for the First Time in Program History
Posted 12-5-06 - The #3 nationally ranked Madison Area Technical College Volleyball team that went 33-6 this season placed two student-athletes on the 2006 NJCAA Division III All-American team.  Kristin Brochtrup (First Team) and Kara Hilmanowski (Honorable Mention) become the first two volleyball All-American’s in school history.

Kristin Brochtrup (Second Year - Kaukauna H.S), an two-time all-conference, all-state, and all-region selection, was named a first team NJCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball All-American.  Brochtrup led the WolfPack in kills (251 - 2.73 per game), digs (541 - 5.88 per game) and blocks (64 - 0.7 per game).  Brochtrup ranks seventh nationally in digs.

Kara Hilmanowski (First Year - Middleton H.S.), an all-conference and all-region selection, was named an honorable mention NJCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball All-American.  Hilmanowski led the WolfPack in kills per game (2.86) and was second on the team in total kills (223).

MATC Falls One Game Short of National Tourn.
Posted 11-4-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack women one their first game against Minnesota State-Fergus Falls but fell to Ridgewater College in the NJCAA Region XIII-A Final.

In their first game of the NJCAA Region XIII-A Tournament, MATC faced Minnesota State - Fergus Falls. MATC won a tight four-game match as Brittany Smith and Kara Hilmanoski each had 15 kills. Kristin Brochtrup made 16 digs while Jen Butler dished out 46 assists. With the win, MATC advanced to the Region Final against nationally ranked, Ridgewater College.

In the championship final, MATC fell behind early losing the first two games 17-30 and 31-33. In the third game, the WolfPack Women rallied to win 30-28. Ridgewater won the final game to advance to the national tournament. Maggie Tipler led MATC with 16 kills while Kristin Brochtrup made 23 digs and Jen Butler recorded her second 46 assist game of the tournament. MATC finished a steller season with a 33-6 overall record.

MATC Drops Tough Match to UW-Whitewater
Posted 10-27-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC women finished off the regular season with a tough home loss to NCAA Division III opponent, UW-Whitewater JV. The WolfPack had not lost a match since the last time they faced Whitewater on September 19th, a winning streak of 20 games.

Jen Butler served up 29 assists and grabbed 19 digs, while Kara Hilmanoski scored 10 kills to lead MATC.  Maggie Tipler and Kristin Brochtrup each added four blocks for the WolfPack.  MATC will take an overall record of 32-5 to the NCJAA Region XIII-A Tournament in Wilmer, MN on November 3rd and 4th.

MATC Captures First WJCAA Title Since 1996
Posted 10-23-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women won all ten of their games en route to winning their first state championship in 10 years.  The WolfPack scored wins over UW-Waukesha, UW-Sheboygan, UW-Marathon and UW-Baraboo to advance to the title game.  In the final, MATC once again faced off with UW-Waukesha.  MATC won 30-10, 30-18 to cap off the title run.  The WolfPack improved to 32-4 overall and a perfect 21-0 against state opponents. 

Kristin Brochtrup and Jen Butler were named to the All-Tournament team for the WolfPack, while Brochtrup was named WJCAA Region IV All-State prior to the tournament.

The MATC Volleyball team helped the WolfPack complete a trifecta, as all three fall sports teams won WJCAA championships.

MATC Volleyball Advances to State Tourney
Posted 10-16-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women swept through the WJCAA State Regional Playoffs in Richland Center, WI, by winning eight straight games. MATC defeated Western Technical College, UW-Richland, UW-Rock County and UW-Baraboo all in two games to advance to the WJCAA State Tournament in Janesville, WI, on Saturday, October 21st.

MATC Remains Undefeated in Conference Play
Posted 10-16-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women traveled to Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday and came home with a three game victory over Mid-State Technical College.  The WolfPack finished the regular season undefeated in both the WTCC(6-0) and the WJCAA (12-0).

Valerie Johnson dished out 18 assists while Brittany Smith collected six kills.  Kristin Brochtrup added five kills and served up 11 aces.  MATC improved to 23-4 overall.

MATC Women Claim Two More Wins at Home
Posted 10-12-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women improved to 11-0 against WJCAA opponents with home wins over MATC-Milwaukee and UW-Waukesha.

The WolfPack improved their WTCC record to 5-0 with a three game victory over MATC-Milwaukee in the first game of the triangular.  Jen Butler served up 26 assists while Amanda Borgardt led a balanced attack with 10 kills.

In game two, MATC extended their winning streak to 10 games with a two game victory over UW-Waukesha 30-16 and 30-19.  Butler led the WolfPack once more with 29 assists and Kristin Brochtrup had eight kills and 15 digs.  MATC improved to 22-4 overall.

MATC Cruises To Win Over UW-Richland
Posted 10-10-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women won their eighth straight game and improved to 9-0 against state junior college competition with a three games to none win over UW-Richland.

UW-Richland managed to score only 41 points in three games against the WolfPack. MATC won 30-18, 30-14 and 30-9. Valerie Johnson dished out 21 assists and Brittany Smith and Kara Hilmanoski each had nine kills in the victory.

MATC Wins Seventh in a Row
Posted 10-6-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women kept their winning streak going with their seventh consecutive victory. The WolfPack swept UW-Washington in three games at West Bend, WI on Thursday, October 5th. MATC won the WJCAA contest 30-23, 30-16, and 30-28.

Kristin Brochtrup led the WolfPack with 10 kills, while Jen Butler dished out 25 assists.  MATC improved their WJCAA record to 8-0 and their overall mark to 19-4 on the season.

MATC Beats Rock Valley College on the Road
Posted 10-4-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC Women won their sixth consecutive game with a hard fought three game victory over Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. MATC won 30-26, 30-24, and 30-24.

Three WolfPack players recorded double-digit kills as Brittany Smith led the WolfPack with 15 kills. Jen Butler had a season-high 45 assists and Amanda Borgardt made 15 digs. MATC improved to 18-4 on the season.

MATC Extends Win Streak to Five Games
Posted 10-2-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack won their fourth and fifth consecutive matches beating conference foe, Western Technical College and UW-Marshfield at a Triangular in La Crosse, WI on Saturday, September 30th.

MATC improved to 4-0 in conference play as they beat Western Technical College for the second time this season. MATC beat the host Lady Cavaliers in three games behind eight kills from Maggie Tippler and Jerrica Eager. Jen Butler had 25 assists and Maggie Tippler added 12 digs in the win.

In the second game of the Triangular MATC battled two hard fought games with UW-Marshfield. In the end, MATC won two games 30-28 to push their state junior college record to 7-0. MATC was led by Kara Hilmanoski's eight kills and Jen Butler's 24 assists.

MATC Dominates Mid-State in Three Games
Posted 9-28-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack improved to 3-0 in conference with a three game rout of conference foe, Mid-State Technical College. MATC only allowed the visiting Cougars 28 points in three games as the WolfPack won 30-12, 30-7 and 30-9.

Jen Butler had 13 sets and Maggie Tipler and Brittany Smith each had six kills in the win.

MATC Goes to 4-0 Against State Opponents
Posted 9-26-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack improved to 4-0 against state junior college opponents as they swept UW-Rock County in three games, 30-24, 30-19, and 30-15.

Kristin Brochtrup recorded a season-high 19 kills on 27 swings for a .593 attack percentage. Maggie Tipler added 11 kills. Jen Butler had 36 set assists and Brochtrup also led the team with 17 digs. MATC improved to 14-4 on the season.

MATC Claims Conference Victory in Rout
Posted 9-24-06 - The #3 nationally ranked MATC WolfPack claimed their second straight conference victory with a three games to none rout of MATC-Milwaukee. The Stormers managed only 22 points in three games as the WolfPack rolled 30-6, 30-6, and 30-10.

In a match that only lasted forty-five minutes, Maggie Tipler and Jerrica Eager led the WolfPack with five kills each. Jen Butler recorded 15 set assists.

MATC Volleyball Ranked #3 in the Nation
Posted 9-20-06 - The NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Poll released today has Madison Area Technical College (12-4) ranked #3 in the nation.

Central Lakes College-Brainerd from Brainerd, MN and Harper College from Palatine, IL are both ranked ahead of the WolfPack.

MATC Loses Close Match to UW-Whitewater
Posted 9-20-06 - The WolfPack Women played four tight games (29-31, 26-30, 32-30, 29-31) against NCAA Division III UW-Whitewater JV but ended up losing 1-3 for the match. The match proved to be a tough test for the WolfPack.

Former Middleton H.S. athlete, Kara Hilmanoski had 14 kills to lead the WolfPack while Jesc Seeliger recorded 26 digs and Jen Butler had 36 sets.

MATC Loses in Semifinals of College of Lake County Invitational
Posted 9-18-06 - The MATC WolfPack Women lost to the #4 team in the nation, Harper College 25-30, 20-30 in the Semifinal game of the College of Lake County Invitational in Grayslake, IL, on September 15-16.

MATC was 3-1 in pool play beating Highland CC, College of Lake County and College of DuPage. Their only loss in pool play came against Kankakee CC.

MATC Hands Western Tech College First Conference Loss Since 2002
Posted 9-13-06 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team continued to roll as the WolfPack Women handed the visiting Western Technical College Lady Cavaliers their first conference loss since 2002. Behind fourteen kills by second year starter Kristin Brochtrub, MATC won the first, third and fourth sets to win their first conference match.

In the second match of the night, MATC upended the visiting UW-Baraboo Fighting Spirits in two games, 30-16 and 30-26 to record their seventh straight win. Kristin Adler had 23 sets and Kristin Brochtrup had 21 digs in the victory.

MATC Claims Rochester Tournament Title
Posted 9-10-06 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team claimed their second consecutive tournament title as they beat Rochester Community & Technical College, Minnesota State-Fergus Falls, Hibbing College and #3 nationally ranked Ridgewater College on their way to the tournament title.

MATC Ties for First in North Iowa Tournament
Posted 9-5-06 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team tied for first place with North Iowa Area Community College at the NIACC Tournament in Mason City, IA on Saturday, September 2nd.

MATC beat Northland College (29-30, 30-23, 15-12) and Pillsbury College (30-13, 30-22) before losing to host North Iowa (20-30, 30-26, 10-15). In their final game, MATC took care of Loras College (30-28, 30-25). The MATC Women finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.

Posted 8-29-06 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team added a home game versus UW-Whitewater JV on Thursday, October 26th at 7:00 PM.

MATC Volleyball Signs Six for 2006 Season
Posted 8-3-06 - The MATC women's volleyball team has signed the following six players to a National Letter of Intent for the upcoming 2006 season:

Kristin Adler, a setter from Monona Grove H.S., led her team in assists (370) and was a Badger South Conference Honorable Mention selection in 2005.

"Kristin is a wonderful athlete that will make an immediate impact on our program," commented head coach Toby Parker.

Amanda Borgardt, an outside hitter from Cedarburg H.S., served as team captain and also excelled in club competition.

"Her passion for the game is off the charts. Amanda will improve daily because of that."

Kara Hilmanowski, a 6-foot middle blocker from Middleton H.S.

"Kara's committment to the WolfPack program makes us a better team both offensively and defensively. She will be one of the more decorated players in our program's history when she graduates."

Jessica Judge, a defensive specialist from Edgerton H.S., was recognized as one of the top defenders in the Rock Valley Conference in 2005.

"Jess is the final piece of the puzzle that we feel completes a very well-rounded group, and one of the top recruiting classes in the program's history. We will rely on her to anchor a defense that we have worked hard to rebuild in the offseason."

Brittany Kalscheur, a defensive specialist from Verona H.S., was a Badger South all-conference selection in 2005.

"Another position hit hard by graduation, Brittany will bring instant stability and much needed ball control to our program."

Maggie Tipler, an outside hitter from Monona Grove H.S., led her team in kills (182) and was a second team South Badger all-conference selection and team Co-MVP.

"Hit hard by the loss of two all-conference hitters, Maggie fills that void and adds much needed height."

The WolfPack open the 2006 season on Sept. 2 in Mason City, IA, and host their first matches at MATC on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
