MATC Hires Toby Parker as the new Head Volleyball Coach
Posted 5-14-05 - Madison Area Technical College is pleased to announce Toby Parker as the new Head Women’s Volleyball coach. Parker replaces former head volleyball coach, Sarah Grotsky. Grotsky coached the WolfPack for the last five seasons compiling a record of 78-69-10.

Parker comes to MATC with a wealth of coaching experience at both the high school and USAV Junior Olympic Volleyball level. Parker coached high school volleyball for fourteen years at various high schools throughout southern Wisconsin, including Lodi, Verona, Madison Edgewood, and Mount Horeb. His athletes and teams achieved success at both conference and state levels. Parker served as the 2000 Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA) All-Star game coach and was also a WVBCA board member.

At the club level, Parker founded Midwest Juniors, which is currently the second largest junior olympic volleyball program in Wisconsin. His club teams have compiled a 240-123 record through seven seasons.

“I have spent a good part of the last fourteen years preparing high school athletes for the “next level” and I feel very excited to now coach at that next level,” said new MATC Head Coach, Toby Parker.

Coach Parker currently lives in Verona and is a graduate of Madison East High School.

MATC Volleyball Upsets, Places Second at State
Posted 10-25-04 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team tied UW-Waukesha and beat UW-Fox Valley and UW-Marathon to advance to the WJCAA Semifinals. In the semifinals, MATC faced conference champion, Western WI Technical College, who had beat MATC in all eight games this season.

MATC came out firing and won the first game 30-26. Western WI Tech claimed the second game 20-30 to set up a third and deciding game. In the final game, MATC pulled off an an exciting 17-15 win. With the upset, MATC advanced to the WJCAA Tournament Final. In the final, UW-Marshfield proved to much as MATC fell in two games. MATC's runners-up finish was the program's best state tournament finish since 1996.

MATC Riding Three Game Win Streak
Posted 10-12-04 - The MATC Women’s Volleyball team is currently riding a three-game winning streak beating conference foes, Milwaukee Technical College and Waukesha County Technical College.  MATC is 6-1 in conference play as they prepare to face 7-0 conference leader, Western WI Technical College, on October 13th.  Lacey Reider (Monticello H.S.) and Alison Babler (Waterloo H.S.) both rank second in the region in attack percentage and service aces, respectively.

MATC Off to Solid Start
Posted 10-12-04 - The MATC Women’s Volleyball team is currently 3-3 overall having played some tough competition at the Rochester CTC Tournament on September 11.   The MATC Women have won two straight conference games and are looking to claim their first conference title since 2002.

2003 MATC Women's Volleyball Recap
Posted 12-11-03 - The 2003 WolfPack Women’s Volleyball team came into the season with a team of six women. Jessica Lopez and Elizabeth Behl were the two returning players. The MATC Women struggled to start the season going 0-4 but got back on track and finished the regular season with a 7-12 record. The team was 7-8 against state junior college competition and claimed second place in the WTCC with a 5-3 conference record.

In the postseason, at the WJCAA State Playoffs in Madison, the team tied UW-Richland, lost to Western WI Technical College, and beat UW-Rock County. With a 1-1-1 playoff record MATC did not advance to the WJCAA State Tournament.

At the NJCAA Region XIII-A Regional, the MATC Women lost two close matches to Fergus Falls CC and Western WI Technical College, ending their season. Second year player, Jessica Lopez claimed conference, state, and region honors while placing herself in the MATC record books in several career statistical categories.

MATC advances to NJCAA Regional
Posted 11-6-03 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team (9-13-1) advanced to the NJCAA Region XIII-A Regional in LaCrosse, WI with a four game win over Milwaukee Area Technical College in the conference regional play-in game. On Tuesday, October 28th, MATC beat host MATC-Milwaukee 23-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27. MATC plays in the regional this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 7-8).

MATC Hosting WJCAA State Playoffs
Posted 10-17-03 - The MATC Women's Volleyball team finished the regular season with a 7-12 overall and 5-3 WTCC record.  The team will host the WJCAA State Playoffs on Wednesday, October 22nd in the H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium.
