Soccer Player Becomes Second Soccer All-American in School
History

Foulks, a former Madison West H.S. athlete, became the second
soccer player in Madison Area Technical College history to
receive all-american honors. Foulks, a first year midfielder
for MATC, was selected second team all-american for his play
during the 2003 season. The MATC Soccer team (13-2-3 overall)
claimed conference, state, and region titles this season while
Foulks led the team in scoring and assists with eleven each.
Foulks also recorded four goals in four games during MATC's
postseason run.

Posted 12-11-03 - The
2003 WolfPack Soccer team behind their new/old coach, Jeff
Richardson, who is back after a two-year hiatus, was hungry
for a chance to make it to the national tournament. The pre-season
#14 nationally ranked MATC soccer team stormed through the
regular season with a 10-1-3 overall record, with the lone
loss coming in overtime to Loras College JV. MATC finished
the regular season undefeated against state junior colleges
(7-0-1) and undefeated in the WTCC conference.
Having claimed the WTCC title, the team focused on the NJCAA
Region XIII Final. In the Region XIII Final, the WolfPack played
a tough game at home against conference rival, MATC-Milwaukee.
In the end, the WolfPack’s all-conference, all-state,
all-region, and all-american midfielder, Steve Foulks, scored
in the overtime. MATC-Madison won 2-1 to set up a rematch with
pre-season #1, Richland College, for the right to advance to
the national tournament.
In the WJCAA State Final, after advancing past UW-Waukesha
in the semifinal, the WolfPack claimed the state title with
a 3-0 win over UW-Fox Valley.
The rematch with Richland College took place
in Dallas, TX. MATC jumped out to an early lead with a goal
by all-american, Steve Foulks and Richland tied it before half
at 1-1. In the second half, Richland took control and never
looked back winning 1-5 and beating MATC for the second straight
year. Richland College went on to win the NJCAA Division III
national championship.
MATC Soccer Falls in
District Title Game
Posted 11-1-03 - On Saturday, November 1st, the
#14 nationally ranked MATC soccer
team traveled to Dallas, TX to face Richland College in the
NJCAA District Title game. MATC, which has advanced to the
District Title game the last five years, held its own in
the first half as the team was tied 1-1 with Richland College,
the defending national champion.
In the second half, Richland College turned
it on scoring four unanswered goals and handing MATC a 1-5
loss. With the win, Richland College advanced to the National
Tournament. MATC Soccer, which won conference, state, and region
titles this season, ended the season with a 14-1-3 overall
record.
#15 Nationally Ranked MATC Soccer Ready For Postseason
Posted 10-17-03 - The #15 nationally
ranked MATC Soccer team finished the regular season with
an impressive 10-1-3 record. The team claimed the program's sixth straight
conference title as they went undefeated against state junior college competition
during the regular season.
MATC is set to face Milwaukee Area Technical
College on Sunday, October 19th at NOON at the MATC Soccer
Complex off of Anderson Street. The game is the
Wisconsin NJCAA Region XIII Final. The winner advances
to play the NJCAA Region V winner in the NJCAA District
Title Game.

Maintains #15 National Ranking
Posted 10-8-03 - MATC Soccer
continues to play well as they maintain their #15 national
ranking in the most recent NJCAA
National Soccer poll. The team remains undefeated
against state junior college competition and on Tuesday, October
7, MATC beat visiting UW-Washington 3-0. The team lost
their first game of the season to four-year college JV team,
Loras College 2-3 in overtime on October 2nd. The team's
overall record is 9-1-2 as the team looks to two home
games to finish the season.

Rides Eight-Game Winning Streak
Posted 10-1-03 - The
#15 nationally ranked MATC Soccer team continues to roll
over opponents as wins in games on Saturday and Monday pushed
their overall record to 8-0-2. On September
27, MATC beat Milwaukee Area Technical College on two goals
from Dan Barry, a former Janesville Parker athlete, to
claim their first conference win 2-0. On Saturday,
the team traveled to South Holland, IL to play a consistantly
strong South Suburban Community College team. MATC played
a terrific game getting
five goals on 18 shots to beat South Suburban 5-0.
