    Reinstatement of Financial Aid by Meeting Standards of Progress

    Students who do not have any extenuating circumstances may contact Madison College Financial Aid to request review for re-instatement after they have successfully:

    1. Completed at least 67% of the total Credits Attempted (67% of the classes completed must equal a minimum of 6 credits in one semester); and
    2. Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
    3. Completed a FAFSA.
    4. Been accepted into an eligible program of study.

    Reinstatement by Appeal

    Standard of Progress Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of notification of suspension by email. Appeals submitted after 30 days of notification will be considered for the next term.

    Allow up to FOUR WEEKS from submission of appeal form and all documentation to process an appeal.  You will be notified regarding either a determination or next steps via your Madison College student email.

    To expedite processing, submit appeal form at same time as supporting documentation. Documentation provided will become a part of the student's record.

    Appeal -  GPA or Completion Percentage

    Students with extenuating circumstances may submit an appeal with appropriate documentation using the Standards of Progress - Appeal Form provided on their myMadisonCollege Student Center To-Do List (see appeal deadlines by term above). Only students who are active in or have been accepted into an eligible program of study AND completed a FAFSA will have access to the appeal form. Appeals must include:

    1. Explanation of why the student failed to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements;
    2. Documentation from third parties (e.g., physicians or academic advisors) that supports the circumstances of the appeal; and
    3. Explanation of what has changed to allow the student to return to school and be successful.

    Additional Information

    Academic Fitness Program (AFP) - Students will be notified via their Madison College student email if required to complete the AFP.  Students who have previously been on financial aid suspension, been suspended due to maintaining a completion rate of below 51%, and/or maintaining a cumulative GPA of below 1.5, may be required to complete the Academic Fitness Program (AFP).

    Appeal -  Maximum Credits Attempted

    Madison College must monitor all Credits Attempted during your lifetime, including credits earned at all other colleges. Students who attempt more than 150% of the number of credits required for graduation are subject to Financial Aid Suspension.
