Woodworkers Certification to Kickoff in Madison

At the annual Board of Directors' meeting in Savannah, GA last week, Cabinetmaking and Millwork Program Director Patrick Molzahn was selected as a Chief Evaluator for the Woodwork Career Alliance of North America. He is tasked with developing a training program for new evaluators.

Madison College will be one of two pilot sites in North America to begin certifying their students, and has been chosen as the initial location to train evaluators from around the U.S. and Canada for the Skills Standards Credentialing program which the WCA is launching in 2011.

Established in 2007, the Woodwork Career Alliance has developed operator standards for over 50 pieces of woodworking equipment. These standards will strengthen wood-based industries and increase the professionalism of the woodwork manufacturing work force.

The WCA is a non-profit organization actively promoting a skilled work force for the advanced woodworking industry in the United States and Canada. For more information visit the WCA website.
