Wiser Older Workers Support Group

    Center for Adult LearningThe Center for Adult Learning at Madison Area Technical College offers a weekly support group called “Wiser Older Workers” (WOW). Individuals age 55 and older who are looking to get back into the job market are encouraged to attend.

    April 29, Speakers:
    Dennis Winters, Chief of the Office of Economic Advisors at Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, will speak about the job market and trends and opportunities for underemployed and unemployed individuals in the state. Dennis has compiled the latest job data and will share this information with those attending the support group.

    Julie Enloe, Job Partnership Coordinator for the Dane County Job Center, will speak about new job opportunities and work programs available to get back into the workforce.

    May 13, 2011 Speakers:
    Nino Amato is the President and CEO of the Coalition for Wisconsin Aging Groups located in Madison. He works nationally on legislation to protect the rights for aging workers. Prior to accepting his current position, Nino worked in corporate America, public service administration, served on a multitude of boards and commissions and operated his own successful consulting service.

    Jennifer Alexander, President of the Madison Chamber of Commerce, will speak on job transitioning. Jennifer was the Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development during the Doyle administration prior to accepting her current position with the Chamber of Commerce.
