A Vlisides Family Thank You

My family wishes to thank all the Madison College community members for the wonderful support and comfort they extended to our family during this most difficult loss of my husband Peter Vlisides. The outpouring of support by everyone was so appreciated.

A special thank you goes to my CETL colleagues, Tracie Bowers, Recreation Management Program Director and the Recreation Management Program graduates and current students for their help during this time.

It has meant so much to my children, Victoria and Alex, and to me to hear about the ways Peter touched the lives of so many students and colleagues at Madison College.

He was a husband, father and educator with a big heart. I want to share what one of his graduates shared with me recently. She said, “Peter was the first teacher that made me feel smart. He is responsible for my being successful in college and going on for further education.”

I have reflected on her words, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind each of us at Madison College what important jobs we have by the way we touch so many students’ lives and futures. Peter was very aware of this great opportunity and responsibility as an educator and person. He truly cared about everyone he knew and took time to find out how they were doing. Above all, he always found a way to make things fun for his family, friends, colleagues and students. He has left many of us richer from knowing him, most obviously myself, my children and his friends.
