Two Students Win National Scholarship

Xi'an ChinaTwo of our students, Abigail Campbell and Eric Gage, were recently awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to be used towards their spring study abroad program in Xi’an, China.

The Gilman is a highly competitive scholarship that is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and is administered by the Institute of International Education. Only students who are Pell Grant-eligible can apply for this scholarship, which “aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go.”

This is particularly exciting because Abigail and Eric are only the 2nd and 3rd Madison College students to receive the Gilman. The first was Jon Worrell, who studied abroad in Canterbury, England, during the Fall 2009 semester.

    Please wish them congratulations!
