Student Voter ID Rally at the Capitol
Tue, 11/08/2011 - 12:20 — wbessette
The right to vote is one of the most important rights in this country. Many people have fought and struggled for this right. People have even died for it. Everyone eligible who wants to vote should be able to do so, without exception.
Unfortunately, technical college students are being threatened by the Wisconsin Legislature’s new photo ID law. Students at UW system schools and at other colleges in the state will be able to use their student IDs as voter identification. As of now, technical college students will not. Students have one last chance to fight against this discrimination.
Tomorrow morning (November 9) Madison College students will be going to the Capitol to stand up for our rights. Please come and join us. If we can’t convince the Government Accountability Board to rule in our favor, this new law will put up new barriers that will likely prevent some students from even voting at all.
Register to speak or just show your support starting at 9 a.m. and going on throughout the morning. Go to:
GAR Hall, Room 417 North, State Capitol
Wednesday November 9
Starting at 9 a.m.
Thank you.
