Student Survey Takers Needed

Madison Area Technical College needs reliable students who are comfortable talking with people to conduct a survey of specific Madison-area households on November 19, 20 and 21. The taking of the surveys will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will be paid $10/hr. for their labor plus a free lunch!

The project studies voting behaviors of Madison-area voters as part of a University of Chicago and University of California at Berkeley project.

Names and email addresses of qualified students should be submitted by email to ethornley[at] matcmadison [dot] edu " rel="nofollow">Erin Thornley, Public Affairs and Government Relations Manager by the 4:30 on Monday, November 15. Students must be reliable so other members of the team can count on them.

Surveyors must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- be able to talk with people and be respectful to the people who are being surveyed as well as those who don't wish to participate in the study
- be able to walk all day long and climb stairs
- dress according to the weather and understand that the job is outdoors
- be reliable, on time and participate fully throughout the day
- sign a waiver and release form
- complete a stipend payment form providing a social security number and mailing address

The study will require 12 students on each of the three days of the study to work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  It is permissible for students to work on multiple days.  It is critical that the students are reliable. This is a team project so those who don't participate as promised create more work for other people on the team. 

Those working on the project must be in the Madison Area Technical College District Administration Parking Lot on the Truax Campus at 3550 Anderson Street near the corner of Anderson Street and Stoughton Road at 8:45 a.m. on the day(s) for which they are registered.Surveyors will be given specific instructions by the University of Chicago researchers, will be provided with required materials and will be asked to sign and return the required forms. Surveyors will then board a van to be driven to the area in which they will survey. The group will meet for lunch (cost covered) and will be returned to the campus around 4 p.m.
