Recyclemania Week 2: Single Sort Recycling at the College

Single sort recycling makes recycling easy since all recyclables go into one container. Generally, these containers are blue in each classroom and office. Recycling containers in the hallways and café areas are marked as recycling. 

Single stream recycling brings together a number of materials to be recycled including: plastic, glass, aluminum, tin and paper. This makes it easier for us since we can put all of these types of materials into one container. This reduces the need for separate containers for each type of item and makes it easier for custodial staff in collecting these items. All materials are sorted afterwards into their raw material base.
