Pie Fights!

Pie FightsSuppose an odd number of people are standing in a room and each person has a banana cream pie that he or she will throw at the closest person. Now assuming each person is a perfect shot and hits the person they throw at, it can be shown that there's always a survivor (someone who doesn’t get hit by a pie).

Some basic geometry will be used to prove this and other surprising results at the next Math Club meeting on Friday, December 4 at 3:30 p.m. in room 209 (Truax).

Professor John Koker will be the keynote speaker. He's Dean of the College of Letters and Sciences at UW-Oshkosh. Prior to this position he was the chair of the mathematics department at UW Oshkosh. He has also served as the Governor of the MAA (WI). This will be his fifth presentation at Math Club.
