New Office and Staff for TRiO/Student Special Services

Last fall, Madison College was awarded a 5 year, $1.1 million federal TRiO /Student Special Services (SSS) grant to increase the retention, graduation and transfer rate of 140 eligible students.
Students must be:
-first generation (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree or higher)
-low/limited income (qualified for a Pell Grant)
-have certified disability status with Madison College’s Disability Resources Services
Students will receive a variety of support services including: academic and career advising, personal education planning, tutoring, success skills workshops, and financial assistance.
The TRiO/SSS Program's main office is located in the Student Development Center at the Downtown Education Center, Room 116, with satellite services at the Truax Student Development Center in Room 159AA.
Sandy Blumer, Learner Success Senior Advisor (for CMAT and HPS programs) has been appointed the Interim Program Coordinator, until a permanent coordinator is hired. San Juana Diaz, formerly a part-time Madison College employee with the CPAAC's High School Equivalency Program (HEP) will serve as TRiO's Clerical Technician. Jeffrey Galligan, formerly a casual staff advisor with the Student Development Center, has been selected as the new TRiO program advisor. Tia Murray, a former Madison College Student Senate leader, Phi Theta Kappa Honor graduate, and a new UW-Madison transfer student, will serve as the Program Intern.
