MESA Recycling Reminder
Thu, 09/02/2010 - 10:57 — kfoster3
As we start the Fall semester, MESA would like to remind everyone across the District that all campuses have “Single Sort” recycling. Single sort recycling makes recycling easy since all recyclables go into one container. Generally, these containers are BLUE in each classroom and office. Recycling containers in the hallways and café areas are marked as recycling.
Single stream recycling brings together a number of materials to be recycled including: plastic, glass, aluminum, tin and paper. This makes it easier for us since we can put all of these types of materials into one container. This reduces the need for separate containers for each type of item and makes it easier for custodial staff in collecting these items. All materials are sorted afterwards into their raw material base.
Remember the Madison College “blue” recycling bins in classrooms and offices are single stream recycling containers. Therefore, you can recycle such things as office paper, newspapers, magazines and journals, plastic bottles, glass, aluminum foil or aluminum cans and tin cans right in your office or classroom. Please do not throw paper towels, napkins, Kleenex, facial tissues, or other soiled items into the recycling, otherwise, the entire contents of the container must be disposed of. For a complete listing of the items that can be recycled, please see the attached.
If you do not have a “blue” recycling bin in your office, classroom or work area, please contact Facilities staff at (608) 246-6030 to obtain one.
